Information Media Specialist - 21st Century Library Curriculum
The Rapid City Information Media Specialists will work one hour per week with all students K - 5 to deliver the following 21st Century library, media, and technology skills.
Unit One - Welcome to the Library!
Students will locate and access information in the virtual and physical library environment.
Unit Two - What's your Genre?
Students will explore the genres of contemporary fiction.
Unit Three - Lost in Fiction
Students will work with the main elements of fiction (plot, character, setting, and theme).
Unit Four - Our Story
Students will explore traditional fiction in Folktales, Myths, Fairytales, Fables and Legends.
Unit Five - Just the Facts
Students will work with Non-fiction and Reference material including On-line resources.
Unit Six - The Trail to the Treasure
Students will search out, find, note and give proper credit for needed information.
Unit Seven - Putting it all Together
Students will use all of their information literacy skill to complete an informational project.
